University of Chicago ID (UCID)
The University of Chicago Card (UCID) is the official multi-function University identification card. Your first opportunity to obtain your UCID card will be on Saturday, September 20 during your Orientation. It is highly recommended that you get your UCID at this time. To acquire or replace your UCID after Orientation, visit the ID & Privileges Office in Regenstein Library. The ID & Privileges Office is located on the first floor near the South entrance. Graduate and professional students are eligible to get their UCID's starting August 18.
You must bring a current photo ID with you (e.g., driver's license, passport, school ID, etc.) in addition to your appointment card.
The UCID will provide you with a picture ID, as well as access to a wide variety of facilities, privileges, and services, including:
- Secured, automated entrance into Regenstein and Crerar libraries.
- The ability to check out library materials at all University libraries.
- Access to University residence halls.
- Access to your meal plan and University dining halls at Burton-Judson Courts, Pierce Hall and Bartlett Dining Commons.
- Access to dining plan Flex Dollars in the Hutchinson Commons Food Court, the C-Shop, Maroon Market, and the Hutchinson Court Grille.
- Check cashing privileges at the Bursar's Office.
- Secured, automated entrance into the University athletic facilities, including the Henry Crown Field House and the Gerald Ratner Athletic Center, and the ability to rent athletic equipment.
- Access to Student Health Services.
- The ability to add cash value to your UCID and purchase snacks and beverages from vending machines, make photocopies, and use laundry services throughout campus without using cash.
- Access to campus buses.
