Ordering Guidelines

NSIT staff will be available during Orientation to assist you in purchasing a new computer or in upgrading your current system. Many students order systems before orientation, as built-to-order systems take 7-10 business days. Before making your final purchase, please be sure to inquire about any back-to-school specials. If you would like to view products we sell, please visit the NSIT Solution Center located at 970 E. 58th St., Room 340.

Because we offer academic pricing* on many products, NSIT can only sell equipment to persons with a valid UCID, or ID from the Lab Schools, Argonne National Lab, Fermi National Lab, or affiliated organizations. For entering students, claiming your CNetID and password, a letter of acceptance and proof of payment to the University of Chicago (cancelled deposit check, tuition receipt, housing assignment, etc.) are required.

Payment is required at the time of purchase. We accept:

  • Cash
  • Credit cards (VISA, MasterCard, Discover); credit cards must be in the name of the bearer
  • Cashier's checks, bank checks, traveler's checks, money orders, personal checks (state issued ID or driver's license required, checks subject to approval by Telecheck)

If you cannot visit the Solution Center showroom on the University of Chicago campus to place your order, you can place an order online, by fax or by mail. For more details visit http://solutioncenter.uchicago.edu/ and click on the Hardware and Software Sales icon.

The Solution Center can ship your order anywhere in the continental United States via United Parcel Service (UPS), either via ground or air shipping**.

Orders are available for pick-up at the Solution Center warehouse, located in the basement of the New Graduate Residence Hall, at 6019 S. Kimbark Ave. Please enter through the loading dock on the west side of the building. If an item is temporarily out of stock, we will notify you as soon as it becomes available.

*Prices are subject to change. Personal purchases are subject to an 9.00% city-wide sales tax. This tax is not included on orders shipped out of state. Departmental purchases are not taxed.

**UPS requires that we ship to an address and will not deliver to a P.O. Box. Please contact the Solution Center for rush shipping charges.
